Professional School Counselor

I will advocate.
I will empower.
I will promote equity.

My School Counseling Philosophy:

As a school counselor, I will be an advocate for all students by creating an equitable environment where students have the opportunity to meet high standards and achieve while adhering to a rigorous curriculum. My students will have numerous opportunities to engage in self-directed personal growth within individual and group settings. Through collaboration between school personnel, family, and the community, all students will have access to resources for each unique need that will allow students to have greater access to learning and exploring new and greater things.

As a school counselor, I will adhere to a strength-based approach because each student has positive attributes that will help him or her to succeed within the school and throughout his or her future. By analyzing data, I will examine issues related to the achievement, opportunity, and attainment gaps and create an environment where these gaps will be eliminated. In order for these changes to take place, the school needs a motivated, genuine, and flexible school counselor who is ready to take on the challenge of creating an equitable environment for all students within a high school setting – and that school counselor would be me.
